Your Retreat Hosts

Lisa Axelsson

With over a decade of teaching experience both locally and internationally, I am a 500hr+ qualified yoga instructor.

Prior to embracing yoga, I worked in private and corporate events in London, a role that left me feeling out of balance. Seeking a change, I discovered yoga, which transformed my life by providing clarity and peace. Yoga became my sanctuary, offering a reprieve from the chaos of daily life. After four years in events, I decided to follow my passion for yoga, completing my first Teacher Training in India. Following this path of teaching yoga, I decided to move back home to Malta, where I met a Swede called Jonas in a yoga class :) , we then moved to Sweden together, and have now settled in Mallorca.

Over the past 10 years, my journey has taken me from teaching friends and family to instructing in top studios in Stockholm and now teaching in Mallorca, where I also host retreats with Jonas. I am trained in Ashtanga Vinyasa, Hatha, Yin, Restorative, Yoga Nidra, and Prenatal Yoga.

My focus is on the profound impact of simple practices. Instead of mastering advanced poses, my goal is to guide you in finding peace and space within, making life more manageable after a stressful day.

The path that led here…. I once did a road trip through Texas where I bought a bumper sticker that said “I wasn’t born in Texas but I got here as fast as I could”. That is how I feel about spending time in nature. I was born and grew up in central Stockholm, Sweden, and though Sweden can offer amazing nature it was not where I wanted to spend most of my time. As I grew older and my university years passed I had my goal set on moving to bigger cities. London or New York. But somehow I found myself first living in Gibraltar (didn’t even know where that was before I moved there) and then Malta. I was working in marketing which allowed me to travel frequently to many of the places I had imagined myself living in which at first was exciting but quickly lost its attraction. Don’t get me wrong I can enjoy the vibe and pulls of a big city but what I realised was that I only wanted to feel that vibe as a visitor, as someone who was soon to return to a place where most of my time would be spent. A place closer to nature.

The last couple of years I have spent living in Mallorca, and I have taken conscious steps to do more of what I want to do and less of what I don’t. More time in nature and less time in front of a screen.

Not all work…

The line for me between work and not has become more blurred during the last couple of years and that is exactly how I want it. But when I want to fully relax or disconnect I love doing it by hiking or running in the Soller valley. I live in Fornalutx and there are many wonderful paths to explore around here that I constantly find myself on new paths where I have not previously walked. Lately, I have also found my way to many of the cold springs that the valley offers for almost daily dips. The cold water is healing and refreshing and works as a reset button for our bodies and minds. If the season allows it then cold dips can be included in many of the walks through the valley.

Qualifications?

  • About 35 years of walking experience (plus one year of crawling experience). Much shorter professional hiking experience though.

  • Swedish Army training but most of it is forgotten and/or suppressed, so don’t rely on that.

  • Good conversationalist on the topics of food, meditation, spirituality and philosophy, marketing and management, health and longevity, and many more.

“Honestly, the retreat was one of the most beautiful experiences of my life. Thank you so so so much for everything you did for all of us. Your care and attention to every single detail were noticed and so appreciated. ”
